Chapter Eight

Katrina’s POV

I had so much fun with you, in my gym, beautiful. Let’s just be completely honest with each other, Katrina. You’ve had a crush on me for years, and I tried to never say anything about it. But, it's out in the open now. I can’t keep my hands off of you, and you can’t keep yourself away from me. Let’s keep this small, just between us. I don’t want to stop, and I don’t think that you do either, so let’s not. I’d like to see where this ends. I don’t want a relationship, but I’ll be exclusive for you, Katrina. I’ll make you feel good like no other man has before. Before you say no, just think about it.

My eyes kept looking at the text message and the man who had sent it. Dane. This couldn’t be serious, could it? There was no way that he’d meant to send it to me, but then why had he used my name? Not once, but twice. My heart was beating rapidly, against my chest, and I was scared that it was going to explode if I wasn’t careful and got it under control.

I should have expected this when he had me coming for him, at the gym, just a couple days ago. When I hadn’t heard from or seen him, I’d thought he considered it a fluke, something that shouldn’t have happened, but now I was realizing that wasn’t the case. He’d needed a couple days to get his head wrapped around it.

Exclusive. Yes, Dane had said that we wouldn’t be dating, but he’d said he’d be exclusive with me. Wasn’t that what I wanted? Yes, I’d dreamt about being with him in an endgame relationship, but this was enough for me if it meant that I ended up with some piece of him. Everyone was having sex nowadays, and I’d rather be immersed into the world with the help of a man that I trusted and loved.

It was a bit embarrassing that he’d always known about the crush that I had on him. I’d thought that I did a pretty good job at pushing it down and hiding it, but obviously not. Had I been a fool to think that I could hide it from him and his daughter.

Had Emily known too and just hadn’t said anything? The second that the thought entered my mind, it disappeared. Emily couldn’t have kept something like that to herself, not for a long time anyway. If she had known then I was sure that she would have said something about it, at this point. I let out a breath of deep air. She didn’t know, and I was grateful for that fact. I had enough to think about without adding Emily into the full mix of things.

I wanted to tell her. I didn’t like to think about the fact that I was hiding things from her, but I didn’t have much of a choice. Yes, she was my best friend, and probably the best thing that had ever happened to me.
